Top of the Morning

I'm honored to be a Guest Designer this week at A La Card Monkey for challenge #97 (only 3 more to 100). The theme is "Anything Goes" plus this sketch:

I decided to make a card for St. Patrick's Day. Here's what I came up with:

There are ALL kinds of green - Certainly Celery (card base and outline of image), Garden Green (image and sentiment), Glorious Green (borders and layer behind the image) and Old Olive (ribbon and sponging around the image). The sentiment and image come from the Pinch Proof stamp set. The DSP is Frostwood Lodge from last year's Holiday mini. The shamrocks are embellishments that I found at Michaels. I heat-embossed the image and sentiment.

Special Anniversary Moment

The challenge this week at A La Card Monkey was to create a card to celebrate a special moment. Friends of mine are celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary - that seemed pretty momentous to me. Following the sketch:

I came up with this card:

The Twitterpated DSP is mounted on SU cardstock - I'm not sure what the color name is, it's some kind of lavender. One of the Four Frames is stamped in Basic Gray and punched with the decorative label punch. I used the Sizzix Decorative label die for the background. I didn't have a "Happy Anniversary" stamp that would fit within the frame, so I hand-wrote the greeting. I finished the card off with a scallop die, lavender silk ribbon and pearls.

By the way, A La Card Monkey is getting close to challenge #100 - I hear there's blog candy to be had.

Snoopy Says You're the Sweetest

It's almost Valentine's Day, so not much more time to make a red, pink & white card! Snoopy & Woodstock are enjoying their ice cream on a park bench. I just picked up the sentiment stamp a couple of weeks ago out of the clearance bin at Michaels. This was the first opportunity to match it up. The theme this week at A La Card Monkey is Sweet + Sketch. Here's the sketch:

It's only a coincidence that the foil heart on my card has polka dots like the heart in the sketch LOL. You can't really tell from the photo, but the heart is red. The basic card is Real Red cardstock topped by Melon Mambo that has been embossed with the Sizzix 3-dot folder. The image is stamped on white cardstock using Stazon black and then colored with markers. The sentiment stamp was stamped using Real Red and Chocolate Chip markers and then colored in. RR cardstock was layered underneath the images. Glimmer brads complete the card.

This is the last week for Shirley's Valentine Blog Hop, I'm entering this card there as well.

Hope you'll play along. The rules are simple:

Valentine Owls

I case'd this design from Kelly Larson. I used different papers, different embossing folder, changed from an anniversary card to a valentine. I didn't have a heart punch for the middle heart, so I made a template the way I learned wa-a-a--a-a-a-a-a-a-ay back in grammar school (the things that stick with you LOL), cut the heart out by hand and embossed it with the polka dot folder. The center band is embossed with hearts. This was just a scrap of card stock, I think it's pink pirouette, but I could be wrong. I'm entering it in Shirley's Valentine Blog Hop.

This is the LAST week for the hop, so join in now.

Kitten Birthday Wishes

I made this green and blue card for this week's A La Card Monkey challenge #94. Here's this week's sketch:

For my card, the background is a layer of Certainly Celery topped by a green on green Recollections dsp all layered on white card stock. The kitten is a Stampabilities stamp and stamped with Tempting Turquoise. The butterflies are punched from a scrap piece of (I think) Tempting Turquoise card stock. They have tiny green pearls on their bodies. The sentiment is also TT and both sentiment and image are sponged around the edges with CC ink. I used the Decorative Label punch, once on white card stock, once on CC. A turquoise ribbon and Old Olive button complete the card.
